I often post quotes on our social media pages that I find inspirational. They typically center around self improvement and reaching one’s full potential.
On Saturday I posted a quote I came across that said:
“One day or day one. You decide.”
The inspiration for Austin | Fowler came when I wanted to take control of my crazy life. When we started back in 2015 I was a corporate executive and a mom who felt overwhelmed and exhausted.
Not only did starting this company provide thousands of women with bags that helped them feel confident, but it helped me live the life I had always wanted. As a business owner I have the freedom to dedicate time to my kids when they need me most, and spend time with my husband while building Austin | Fowler.
That is how that quote resonated with me, but it could be applied in so many other ways.
Let’s do a small exercise together. Think about two things in your life that need improvement. What have you been neglecting to address that you can personally work to improve?
These things are probably issues, whether you’d like to admit it or not, that have needed improvement for a long time. Why is it so hard to make these changes though?
According to research, self improvement is so hard because the brain likes routine.
This blog post provides some great detailed information on how to break your current habits to make way for the changes you want to make, but here’s a brief summary:
Get comfortable with being uncomfortable.
Ouch, I know that sounds painful, and that’s because it is.
The good news is that if you make the steps to your goal a habit eventually you (and your brain) won’t think twice about it.
Just remember: “One day or day one. You decide.”
